Compared to Oriveti OD200
Let’s compare it with a similarly priced Oriveti OD200 ($199 which uses a single dynamic driver and has switchable tuning nozzles. The Wind has calmer mids and highs, hence being less highlighted in quantity and brightness. Meanwhile, OD200’s upper frequencies are more up close in distance and the texture has a stronger crisp.
The vocals are airier and a tad drier on OD200 while Wind treats the vocals more smoothly and dark. The bass is more full-bodied and deeper on Wind. But then again, since OD200 has tuning nozzles, swapping to the bass-enhancing nozzles makes OD200 just as warm and bass-heavy as the Wind.
Compared to Binary Acoustics Chopin (Review link)
BQEYZ Wind is interestingly similar to Chopin, in both the sound signature and nuance. There are still noticeable differences, however. Compared to Wind, Chopin’s vocals are a step back and are more linear in thickness. Though at the same time, Chopin is slightly better at controlling the mid-range reverbs. This mainly has to do with your preference of how you’d like to vocals to be done – doing it tight for better cleanliness or gently loosened for a fuller body.
While both IEMs have a W-shaped sound signature, Chopin isn’t exactly W-shaped, as the vocals are a tiny bit recessed, having a more slight v-shaped signature. Meanwhile, Wind has a more W-shaped sound and the vocals are more up close.
Musically fun while being accurate
I quite love this one. Wind is a fun-sounding earphone that hasn’t forgotten about an accurate, natural presentation. BQEYZ has come a long way since Spring 1, our previously reviewed product and also one of their earliest products. Before their IEMs felt like a great purchase for the price, and now their tuning skills have matured exponentially to the point that I feel they’ve now started to make products that are worth and charming as they are, expanding beyond simply being “good for the price”.
Wind not only offers amazing technicality and dynamics but also a mature tuning to have a natural timbre and expressions, punching far above its price tag. If you’re looking to experience the latest bone conductor IEM but have a tight budget, be sure to consider Wind as these are a perfect option for an upgrade.
